Tesla India just made EV ownership a lot more convenient for car owners on the western side of Mumbai. The company has opened its newest Supercharger station at Nexus Seawoods mall in Navi Mumbai, and this one is a first in a very meaningful way. It is Tesla's first charging station located inside a mall in India, and it brings eight chargers to a location where Tesla owners can simply plug in and shop while their car tops up.
The location builds on Tesla's already active charging network in Gurugram, Delhi, and Mumbai. With this Navi Mumbai addition, Tesla continues its strategy of putting chargers where people naturally spend time — malls, highway stops, and food courts — rather than making charging feel like a dedicated errand.
What the Navi Mumbai Station Offers
The Nexus Seawoods station sits in the B1 parking area of the mall and carries eight chargers split into two types. Four are V4 Superchargers delivering DC charging at peak speeds of 250 kW. The other four are Destination Chargers providing AC charging at 11 kW, a slower but perfectly suited option for longer mall visits.
The V4 Superchargers are the real headline here. At 250 kW, a Model Y owner can recover up to 275 km of range in just 15 minutes. That range is enough for a full scenic round trip from Navi Mumbai to Pune, which tells you a great deal about how much practical usability Tesla is squeezing into a quick shopping stop.
Why This Matters for the Indian EV Market
India's EV charging infrastructure has long been cited as a barrier to wider adoption. Most public chargers are slower AC units tucked into corners of petrol stations or standalone parking lots. Tesla's in-mall V4 Supercharger strategy changes that by embedding fast charging into a premium, comfortable environment where waiting is actually enjoyable. According to EV charging infrastructure reports, India needs a significantly expanded fast-charging network to support its 2030 EV targets. Tesla's Supercharger expansion — even if it currently serves only Tesla owners — raises the bar for the entire industry and pushes competitors to follow suit with their own high-speed networks.
